Rare, first edition Pleasant Company Addy Walker doll.

Addy Walker is the fifth historical character released by the Pleasant Company. She represents the Civil War era. Addy was released in the fall of 1993. She has dark skin, textured, dark brown hair and brown eyes. She was the was the first black character released by American Girl, as well as the first doll of color. She is the first doll to have her face mold: The Addy Mold. Addy was also the first doll to be released with earrings; she and Josefina Montoya are the only two characters with attached earrings. This Addy doll was purchased in 1995. She is stamped with Pleasant Company branding on her neck including a product number. Her body is in mint condition with all original limbs, stitching and wig. Her head is attached with strings and she can stand and sit without assistance.  Addy comes in her meet outfit with tags indicating they were made in 1989 for the Pleasant Company. Her outfit includes a bonnet, stockings undergarments, shoes with tags still attached and her iconic gold hoop earrings. Her black, knit stockings reach her knees with elastic tops. She has black lace-up boots with stiff black soles and stickers still attached. Her white cotton undergarments are trimmed with lace; elastic waistband in the back. Her original accessories include her straw hat with a blue calico print ribbon. Addy's "purse", a large square beige printed kerchief that is knotted up. This Addy was purchased for and loved by me as a kid. She has been cleaned and prepped for sale.
