@pirahnawench hey. Here are some ideas for front and back of binder. These may be different than what you want. Thought I’d try a few ideas so you can give me feedback.

@piranhawench some ideas for the binder. There may be a difference in what you want, just thought I’d present some ideas.

This is for the spiral bound notebook, not the binder. Picture 3, turtle in the middle, much smaller lizard on the top. Can your freehand a halo over the lizard? Back same turtle as the front, in the middle. Smaller turtle, paw print & the OTHER butterfly on bottom edge.
I’ll try to draw what I want (not an artist soo don’t expect much) take a picture of it & put it in my closet. Would that be helpful?
piranhawench
I like the positioning of the back paw, turtle & butterfly. I just want them smaller close to the bottom. They represent the reason for the notebook. (It’s so he can write down his number after a finger stick test). The reason is him me & our fur baby. A large turtle ( I’ve been saying turtle but it’s a tortoise) in the center of the back cover, or slightly my if verb beer toward the top so the others fit in the bottom.

@piranhawench ok I’ll make some revisions. Picture 3 has a border around it. Do you like it with the border? We could put a border on either side (frame each side of the cover) if you want? It’ll take a minute for us to come up with this but if you want to draw something that’s cool. You want the same turtle large on both sides with accents of other images I think so far. I can find a halo. I’m not a drawer either but I can find stuff.
piranhawench
I like the border on pic 4. Just the way it is here. In all 4 sides.
piranhawench
When I open picture 7 of the butterfly, tortoise & paw, each one is about 1/2” tall. That’s what I’m thinking for them, use the other open winged butterfly. Can you do the lizard with a halo above the 3, in a similar size, looking down at them? And put this inside the front cover of both books
piranhawench
Pucture 4 #1~ can you put the lizard on the left side of the tortoise, makes them a touch smaller if need be, so they’re looking at each other? Or #2~ larger tortoise in the center with a smaller lizard looking down from above?
Or #1 on the front, #2 on the back? What do you think? This is for the spiral notebook.
piranhawench
Check my closet pics for the butterfly for this cover. 2nd from the bottom, open winged. The other one will go on the 3 ring binder. Actually they both will. Color for spiral leather, can you do smooth brown? That kinda mottled brown color? I think it’s look good as tortoise & lizard skin/shell. What do you think. The binder will be caramel. Examples on covers in my closet. That’s what I’m going by.
piranhawench
Picture #1 lizard this way looking right at tortoise. Turn him sideways to look down from above. I’m trying everything soo I don’t have to draw. If you understood all I’ve said tonight, I think that might be it.
piranhawench
For small “family” I said 1/2” tall. If that’s too small what can you do to keep them as small as you can & still make them recognizable? They’ll be on the inside cover of book. Not on pocket. Will a place to put a couple pens, or at least 1 pen be possible?
piranhawench
This is the spiral notebook for my hubby, as close to November 22nd as possible. It’s ok if it’s not ON the 22nd.,I know this is lots of work. I this will have a couple sticky note sized pockets & a magnetic strap to hold it all closed right?
leathercraft
@piranhawench I was hoping we could include all of the images on 2 pages if possible. Each side will be a different file due to the large size. If we’re making more laserings on the same piece of leather that’s more chance for things to go wrong and may effect cost. We could laser a front and an inside cover with clean back if that’s an option.
leathercraft
@piranhawench I’ll read through it again but I’m confused when we keep talking about the binder and notebook images. Let’s just focus on the design for the notebook cover for now.
leathercraft
@piranhawench you do want pockets on the notebook cover I think. Did you want them for post its or pens?
piranhawench
@leathercraft none of these designs go on the binder.
piranhawench
@leathercraft oh I’m sorry I take take back
piranhawench
@leathercraft ok what are you telling me? One image in the front one in the back?
piranhawench
@leathercraft a tortoise on the front, with a the border. A lizard with halo on the back? With or without the border Can you do what I asked earlier if the tortoise & lizard are smaller? A medium sized tortoise in the middle or lower with a smaller lizard on top edge looking down on the back cover. Leave off border.?
piranhawench
@leathercraft The small ones would be on a separate flap on the inside correct very?
piranhawench
@leathercraft pockets for 2 pens. If a note pad will fit cool! A small sticky note type pad
leathercraft
@piranhawench I need a very large piece of leather for the binder. I need to check with our stock but I’ll let you know what we have before we start. The wolf is a dyed piece of veg tan but that color can vary so it’s not going to be an exact match. I’ll check and get back to you on whether we have enough rustic brown for the notebook.
piranhawench
@leathercraft Don’t do the dyed leather. Small said it wouldn’t be as good I thought. Can this be done with smooth brown?
piranhawench
Amol said…
piranhawench
@leathercraft caramel for the binder. Check out my closet for pix. I’m sorry to cut you off but since I found out I do have C they’re trying to make me a day person. To top it off, I had to change another appt to tomorrow, earlier. I’m not getting enough sleep on either end of the day. Lol! I’m awake now but need to go to bed for tomorrow.
leathercraft
@piranhawench I’m so sorry to hear this. I’ll check in with Amol on how to proceed. I think we could do something on the backside of the front cover or on the pocket but not both. If we’re going to laser on both the front and back cover as well. I’ll make revisions tomorrow morning so we don’t have to get into too late tonight.
leathercraft
@piranhawench I had some time so I did do a revision
piranhawench
Are the inside cover ones to scale with the page? Could they be a little bigger, like 2-21/2”? Can the back cover lizard’s halo be placed like the inside one? Away from him a bit do you can see it? If no on either question or both, it’s ok. I really like the design set up otherwise! I can’t believe it only took this long for you to understand me! LOL!!! Thanks!!!
piranhawench
@leathercraft I’m hoping you can get shift m leather. It’s kinda 2 toned & I think it’d make a good desert look. If not, I thought I saw another brown toned color that looked kinda 2 toned that’d look like desert. Lmk what you find. 🙂 and thank you again for doing this earlier than our normal hours. I appreciate it.
piranhawench
@leathercraft this weekend is gonna be the last of our warm weather so I’m hoping to go for a bike ride up to there mountains or out to the lake. Another ride Sunday & I think we’re done with warm weather riding for this year. It might warm up once more before Halloween then that’s it. I know it’s the desert, doesn’t get that cold??, but on a bike, out in the open it does get cold!
leathercraft
@piranhawench that’s great. I kept reading. Yes I will move the halo out on both that’s fine. It depends how large the inside images on where we put them, on a pocket or a flap. I can make them larger or smaller depending on where they go when we decide but I’m glad you like the images.
leathercraft
@piranhawench I’ll let Amol see and weigh in on what we have so far and check leather inventory this weekend for color. We may not have every color available because of the size of the notebook but we’ll see sometimes he has hydes I don’t even know about that might work too.
leathercraft
@piranhawench one pocket for post its square size and 2 pockets fur ones if possible right? How thick and long are the pens or are they standard size?
piranhawench
@leathercraft oh no! Not this again! LMAO!!! 🤣🤣🤣 you pick! It’s quicker. The pens were usually have are medium point with a lid. Or we could do click pens. You know…top of the pen bds goes “click click click click click”! 🤣🤣 It doesn’t matter, you pick a pen or 2 a note pad whatever fits. Open, pens, no notepad, that works too. Don’t buy $25 pens, solid gold pens. 🤣🤣🤣
leathercraft
@piranhawench hey. Here are a few pics of leather hide. The one is the rustic brown but this part of the hide is super rustic and has lots of character. So you’d need to be into that look. It’ll still laser well. The last one is a smooth sunset tan and will have a completely different feel but is still a great option. Do either of these work for this project?
piranhawench
@leathercraft The rustic brown is perfect!!! Is it soft leather or harder? This is the one I want my for the spiral notebook book with the turtles & lizards, just asking. 😃
piranhawench
@leathercraft I like the other hide for my 3 ring binder possibly. Is it soft?
piranhawench
@leathercraft Can the inside animals go on the left inside flap? Or you tell me where they’ll fit. Is like them a little bigger if possible.
piranhawench
@leathercraft You said you’d put the lizard’s halo away from him a bit. I’d like it separate from him so it shows clearly. 😊 thank you soo much for doing all this!!! 😊 I think he’s gonna love it when it’s done!
leathercraft
@piranhawench yes I fixed the halo just didn’t post it yet. We can put them in the flap probably a staggered line rather than a square would give them the most room. I’ll make a sample of the flap. They’re both soft but with a nice weight to the leather. We love working with these hides for journal covers etc.
leathercraft
@piranhawench hey lady. We are still working on your project. Take a look at these pictures. The second pic is a layout of the pockets looking from the inside.
leathercraft
@piranhawench Amol reminded me that due to the flap folding over (like his) we need to make the front turtle smaller and pick a position. I’m thinking in the left bottom corner. Do you still want a border around him ilor not if he’s not a full panel? Once we’ve made the choices here. I’ll send you a deposit listing.
leathercraft
@piranhawench the inside flaps will be in different leather but it’s a great match and will still laser fit our front panel.
piranhawench
@leathercraft Looks great to me! Left corner front is good. No border. Pockets look good! I love the layout for the inner flap!!! Perfect!!! Love it!!!
