Stunning, rare piece. Royal Delft Blue Polychrome De Porceleyne Fles Floral Peacock Bird High Bowl. 7.5" Bowl in the Polychrome style by De Porceleyne Fles (Royal Delft Pottery), Made in Holland. It measures 7 5/8" wide by 3 3/8" tall. Is in excellent to mint condition overall, no chips, cracks, crazing, or trim loss, very little to no imperfections noted. The style is still active (designs limited) and production of this pattern started in 1905. Pattern has birds and floral design, yellow, green, blue and reddish brown colors. In Holland these bowls (translated in Dutch as "kastkommen") are usually displayed on top of a cupboard. For that reason the outside of the bowl is more richly decorated than the inner part. Polychrome is a multicolored technique may be considered to be the successor of Italian Majolica, which was produced in the 16th and 17th centuries. This technique is decorated in yellow, green, blue and reddish brown. All colors will be painted under the glaze. Marked with backstamp of maker as shown, De Porceleyne Fles, Royal Delft, Hand painted, Made in Holland. Item is Pre-Owned and is in excellent to mint condition with typical estate wear.
