Royal Doulton Figurine: Vivienne

Royal Doulton dates back to 1815 when John Doulton went into a partnership of a little pottery on the banks of the Thanes. By the mid 1880's there were more than three hundred workers producing a range of high quality works that included vases, figures, and other ornaments. Vivienne, issued from 1951 thru 1967, is definitely a sophisticated lady with class and style. Her gorgeous red dress, with black buttons in the front; her hat accented in black with a blue ribbon which matches her blue handbag. She stands tall and proud. The height of this piece is 7 ¾ inches. Vivienne was another piece that was created by the premier designer Leslie Harradine. She is part of the grouping of what has become affectionately known as the "red ladies". The expertise of the artist was determined by their ability to apply the colors, red being one of the more difficult to work with. Looking at this piece, I think the artist was quite talented.
