This sweetie is ahhhdorable. Rubies are quite hard to get in the US right now and most of them are “Composite Ruby” which means they’re about half glass, half ruby dust soup annealed and then faceted. This is a genuine earth grown ruby crystal. 7.06 x 5.12 x 2.30 mm, approx .75 ct. Flanked by 12 baguette diamonds, .30 ct. and 16 round diamonds, .36 ct. all partying together in 14K yellow gold weighing 3.6 grams. Finger size 5.75 Pictures of it on my daughter’s much prettier hand coming soon.

estategems @monikas247 sorry you’ve been swindled on Poshmark. 😣 Yes, transparent gemstones including rubies start out as crystals. There are “composite rubies” which are a mixture of glass and ruby melted together into a hazy appearing material that is faceted into a “gemstone”. I consider it fake. Single crystal ruby, mined and faceted is the rare and more valuable one. Very often there are treatments done such as heating the crystal to deepen the color. This stone may have that.

estategems Unheated ruby prices are off the charts. Tens of thousands more per carat. This stone is normal. Mined, some inclusions, probably heated, genuine Ruby.
