About this item RARE VINTAGE STUNNING appliquéd textile made in the style of insignia of Kings of Abomey in the Republic of Benin formerly Dahomey. MINT CONDITION. NO FADING, NO RIPS, NO STAINS, NO LOSE THREADS. Original condition with tags and never displayed by purchaser. It has been stored for many years with the wonderful hand crafted fabrics. Threads seen are the tails after knots. Has been stored in a box since the the 1980’s but may have been made in the 1960’s. Made of cotton and impeccably made by hand! (sewn appliquéd brightly colored animals.). The textile is a piece of cotton fabric with hand cut pieces depicting different motifs and patterns (birds, fish, animals, fruit and ships) using the appliquéd technique. Black and red borders are machine sewn. 11” x 61”. Great for wall, table top or piano. Could be upcycled on clothing jackets.
