The condition of this pair of USA handmade leather dress shoes is Excellent: no nicks,no scratches, no stains, no odor, no thread pulls, no nothing. Almost no evidence of use. No damage to the heel box. Almost no signs of use to the soles. Excellent. For a long day at the office, I think a Derby is better than an Oxford. Only a hair less dressy or elegant, the open lacing allows for comfort adjustment as the day becomes long. I also think a rubber sole is more practical; if it rains, leather soles can become a problem. A cap toe dress shoe is a classic; it should be every man's first purchase of a dress shoe. A closed Oxford or an open Derby is a coin flip (not much difference, but the Derby is a touch more practical, a touch less elegant).  For formal evening wear of several hours, an Oxford.
