Authentic Tiffany & Co. ELSA PERETTI® Snake Serpent Pendant, 18K yellow gold, 18in chain. Retails on Tiffany's website for 1200.00+plus tax. I've worn it only a handful of times. Rare design is almost impossible to find vintage in 18k. Pendant is beautiful, timeless and classic - the serpent is an ancient symbol of eternity and regeneration. Gram weight is 4.48. I'd keep it if I could, but I need the $$ to put myself through school. Includes Tiffany's pouch and outer box.

@heybailee ok took another shot of the back. The markings are on the bottom (the widest part of the snake) and read “Tiffany & Co.” and the gold karat. It’s super fine, I’ve lost my magnifying glass, and my iPhone won’t focus well enough to get the detail, but you can make it out on the new photo. All the markings are here and this is authentic. ) you can come the same piece listed on the Tiffany site and I can fine/link it if you want. Let me know if you have any more questions!

(But yeah, In ancient Egypt—and in some other cultures like the Maya—gold was associated with eternity bc it was linked to the sun (same gold luster) and it bc it doesn’t tarnish. On top of that, the serpent is an almost universal symbol of eternal life (partly bc it sheds its skin and is “reborn”). Cool, huh? So I especially love this pendant for its double symbolism.

I’ve been reading about the safest way to mail valuable items (usps has lost a couple of my things), and one site advised to mail on a weekday so that the package doesn’t sit around in storage on non mail days. Just to be super careful, I’m going to mail this first thing on Tuesday (since mon is a mail holiday.)

It should be fine at my apartment door or mailbox as long as it ships in something like a mail folder or small box. Please get tracking if possible! Sorry I’m paranoid with it being a lot of money for me to have spent haha.

@heybailee Yes, I'm paranoid too! I read that the safest way is USPS Registered Mail. I believe it has tracking. I do think it also requires signature confirmation, though, because signature is safest way to mail. It's OK if you're not home to sign--I never am either, and in that case you just have to take the notice slip to the post office and pick it up in person. I know it's a hassle, but it's definitely the most secure way to do it.

@corpussanctum I just don’t want it to sit up there all week is all I’m worried about. Our hours suck here and they either close at 2 or 5 and I’m not off until 5 everyday. So I’d have to leave work and find out from my boss when I can. It’ll be at the post office at least overnight depending on when I can leave work.

I'll see if I can send it without signature confirmation--not the safest option but seems like the only workable one. I'm going to insure the package up to the amount you paid. WORST case scenario, if it's lost, I'll refund you and the post office will have to refund me (b/c I insured it).

It'll most likely be fine, but since I've had USPS lose a couple items I just wanna be super careful. But if it's too inconvenient for you to pick it up then that's pointless too. Sometimes you're able to sign the delivery slip with directions for the mail man to redeliver + leave the item, but I'm not sure if that's ALWAYS an option.

@heybailee Ok, cool, good that your mailbox/room is safe. My problem has been with USPS missorting it, misdelivering to an incorrect address, or failing to scan it and the item just 'disappears.' So I'm mostly concerned about it reaching your building at all, not the safety within your building. But most likely it'll be fine. I'll keep you updated on Tuesday. :)
