This stunning “Angels” shadowbox jewelry set was designed by Ana Maria Nunez de Brilanti (“Victoria”) from Taxco, c. 1950. An oval paneled choker, and bracelet are included in this gorgeous set. The Angels design features pierced oval panels, suggestive of angelic figures, over an oxidized floor, creating a beautiful shadowbox effect. Choker and bracelet panels are spaced by smaller panels of vertical silver baubles.
Choker measures 14.5” long and is finished with a box clasp. Bracelet is 7” long and finished with a box clasp, and includes a 4” long safety chain. Pieces are stamped STERLING 53 VICTORIA MEXICO TAXCO with an eagle hallmark surrounding the number 12.
Ana Maria Nunez de Brilanti was born in 1920 and passed away in 1999. In 1940 she opened her first shop, Plateria Victoria SA, in Taxco, Mexico. Victoria’s pieces celebrated nature and included modern forms of animals, flowers, fish and pre-Colombian art.
