Made in West Germany. This beautiful instrument needs just a few adjustments and new strings. This is a copy by Straysberg of Anno Bubenreuth 1983. Model # VLV20-12 and serial # 23E2043. Instrument from chin rest to where ones hand would hit the strings for play is roughly 16 inches give or take. Length with the case roughly 22 inches. Case us included. Has been in storage since my sister left college 15 years again. And properly stored. Price is negotiable but within reason.

@gizmo0265 Hi! Are you sure this viola is 22" in length? Most violists play on 15-16.5". 22" is quite a monster 😉

@rpearce20 it is 20 1/2 inches. Wish the case is 22 inches.

@gizmo0265 I play a 16" viola I just realized you must measuring the entire length of the instrument. You might want to put the measurements for the body only. And you'll gain some more interested shoppers! 💛💜💙

Thanks so much for helping. Some people just yell at me if I list something wrong instead of helping. it's amazing people can be so mean. I measured from top to end of instrument when I sent ya the new measurements. I never played any kind of instrument even in school so I am completely ignorant to the subject. So thank you for the help.

I hope you don't mind me asking a question... what department should I list it under or would you think be best? right now I updated the changes and our under category " home".

@gizmo0265 That is probably the best category you could list it under! And gosh, there is so much to know about different instruments. I only know strings. And I hate when people are rude. They're not helping anyone not even themselves 😂
Would it be weird to ask, what is the length of the body alone? I'm curious. 🤗

@gizmo0265 That's still too big of a size for a playable viola. What you need to measure is the length of the wood (figure 8 shape) from where the chin rest is to the top of it's shoulders. Then change your listing to that number. Violists will look at that length when they are in the market for a viola. Let me know what I can clarify!
