SOPHISTICATED 1940s' BROWN FELT TILT HAT WITH FABRIC FLOWERS AND MATCHING VEIL

This is a beautiful sample of the elegant millinery fashions of the 1940s'. This hat is made of brown felt, and it consists of a cap that extends to the back, which holds the hat in position, plus a short brim that tapers down towards the back. At the top of the crown there are impressive furry fabric flowers in shades of brown, gold and salmon color, plus some green stems. There are also some green wired circles that could be in the shape of a heart. There is a full matching veil, which can be folded on top of the brim. The wartime 40’s saw a huge variety of hats that were suitable for any face shape, hairstyle or personal preference. Throughout the war & on both sides of the Atlantic, elaborate creations brightened dreary utility fashions, brought about by rationing. The only items not rationed were hat materials. Explosions of feathers, veiling & artificial flowers were popular. Label: LANE BRYANT This is an authentic piece of fashion history!
