STRIKING 1940s' NAVY AND WHITE WIDE BRIM HAT WITH NAVY/WHITE DOTTED VEIL

This truly striking navy & white straw wide brim hat consists of a crown which ends in cap at the back and is surrounded by a wide brim edged in woven white straw. At the sides of the crown there are two smaller navy & white bows. The look is finished by a long navy & white dotted veil. The veil can be worn over the face, or placed on top of the brim. There is a hat pin with a black shiny head attached to the crown at the back. The wartime 40’s saw a huge variety of hats that were suitable for any face shape, hairstyle or personal preference. Throughout the war and on both sides of the Atlantic, elaborate creations brightened dreary utility fashions, brought about by rationing. The only items not rationed were hat materials. Explosions of feathers, veiling and artificial flowers were popular.
