This is a very stylish 1940s' tilt hat made of black felt. The hat consists of a round flat crown and it extends to make a turned down, rounded brim. The hat is trimmed with flowers made of the same. felt at the back, and finished with some black veiling. There is an elastic strap to hold the hat in a tilted position.
Tilt hats were popular in the 1930s and 1940s. They were worn at an angle and held to the back of the head by a strap, rigid ring, elastic band beneath the hair, or a combination of these.
