SUMPTUOUS 1940s' BLACK WIDE BRIM HAT WITH TOPSTITCHED BRIM + FEATHERS

This is a magnificent vintage hat from the 1940s'! It is made of black felt. The slightly conical shaped crown is surrounded by a wide brim with beautifully topstitched detail. There is a grosgrain band around the crown, which ends in a bow slightly off centered at the front. From the bow there is a striking set of feathers resembling dove wings. What an elegant look! The wartime 40’s saw a huge variety of hats that were suitable for any face shape, hairstyle or personal preference. Throughout the war & on both sides of the Atlantic, elaborate creations brightened dreary utility fashions, brought about by rationing. The only items not rationed were hat materials.
