I double reinforce them. Some are reversible and they have a lot of stretch as you can see how they fit on the mannequin. Also, you can dampen it a little and stretch it with your hands if you need it a little bigger. I have designed/crocheted hats for over 40 years and sold them all over, particularly to ski lodges which has reached people from all over the world. (I have made over 5,000 hats and donated 1/2 of them. To find out the size of the hat you wear, measure from the back of your head coming around and bringing the ends of the measuring tape together at the center of your forehead right above your eyebrows to determine width. All hats fit most adult heads. The length is from center of top of head to edge of brim. The size I put into the description for the width is the hat laying flat so you would double that and compare it to your head. If the yarn wasn't donated to me, I put the tag to the yarn in there so you can see exactly what it was made out of. If there is no tag then it is always safer washing by hand and air-dried. The female mannequin head width in these pictures is 21”, the Male is 22”and the child is 18” around. They say that a child’s head is full adult size by age 4 so if it doesn’t fit you, it might fit your child. If it has a pom-pom at the top look at it closely, it might have a snap where you can take it off to wash it. Great presents — bundle & save!
