So named “Saint Laurent Rive Gauche” Rive Gauche means “left bank” as his boutique was located on the left bank of the river. Yves Saint Laurent wanted to create clothes for everyone not just the uber rich. He is considered to be one of the foremost fashion designers of the twentieth century. YSL is the reason “ready to wear” became reputable. But, he also brought couture back from the ashes in the 1960’s.
