Samson MD1 Pro Mono Direct Passive Box

I bought this for my son and he is not able to use this right now and wants something different, I did buy this from someone else and have never used it. It is or looks to be New but he doesn't know how to use it. I'm hoping someone here knows what it is used for and can use it. I do know it's sold at Sweetwater.
