San Francisco Opera VTG Embellished Silk Burka worn in 88’ “Parsifal” Production. Own a piece of SF Opera’s costume history. This voluminous parachute silk burka was used in the 1988 SF Opera production of Robert Wagner’s “Parsifal” opera. There is so much volume to this burka! It measures 83” from crown to hem and there is about 9 full yards of fabric measured at the hem! There are areas of gold fabric patches on the fabric, netted fabric for the face and embellished with metal hands, sequins, gold thread and a colored rhinestone. There’s an opening in the back, two inner wristbands extending from the crown to hold it in place and a padded inner cap/crown. This one is in shades of fuchsia. I have another one of the same style in a rich purple (see other listing). Has been gently hand washed and is stunning!!!
