Sand Dollar 4 1/8" x 5 7/8" Postcard

4 1/8 x 5 7/8 inch postcard. The front depicts photos of sand dollars, Doves of Peace, and a Star of Bethlehem, and reads "THE HOLY SHELL - THE MELLITA TESTUDINΑΤΑ commonly called the Texas Sand Dollar is one of the most unusual specimens of Texas marine life. This shell symbolizes the LIFE OF JESUS. In the center of the shell is a five-pointed star - the star that guided the wise men to the manger. The narrow openings represent the crucifixion four wounds in the hands and feet, the fifth wound in His side. When the shell is opened, there are found five little doves DOVES OF PEACE. On the reverse side is an outline of the CHRISTMAS POIN- SETTIA. The grey Sand Dollar represents LIFE... the white one the RESURRECTION." The back is empty of writing and postage, and reads "Greetings from Texas, Photo by J.F. Duran" as well as where the postcard was purchased in Port Aransas, Texas. Most vintages postcards have some wear to the corners, edges, or surface, and possible corner folds, postal ink, and writing. Please see photos for exact condition.
