Set of 6 Antique Lustreware Japan Nippon Bread Plates White Periwinkle Bluebirds

These 6 antique irridescent Japanese plates are stamped "Made in Nippon". The Nippon stamp dates them to the period from 1891 to 1921, so these beautiful dishes are over 100 years old! The white porcelain field is decorated with irridescent bands of periwinkle blue that sometimes appear pink and sometimes lavender. The sloping sides of the plates feature three medallions with two bluebirds each and a black diamond that surrounds a cluster of flowers. They measure 7.5 inches wide. Five plates are free of chips and cracks, but they do have some wear to the glaze, as would be expected for such antiques. One plate has two chips on the edge, as can be seen in the last photograph.
