Set of Two: Gorgeous Antique Pudding Molds / Bowls in the classic Blue Willow pattern. Made in England in the early 1900s. Rare and very collectible: please do NOT lowball.
These are the medium-sized bowls / pudding basins of the three produced: each marked “36” and “Made In England” on the underside, they measure about 5 5/8" diameter x 3 5/8" H and hold 3 1/4 cups.
Condition of one bowl is excellent: no chips or cracks. It retains its beautiful blue and off-white color and glossy exterior with only the expected signs of age and use that give it character: very minor blemishes, yellowing and/ or utensil scratching on the interior.
The second bowl is the same in all respects except that it has a couple cracks (as shown in LAST photo). Two cracks starting from the top rim (between 1.5 & 2” long), and one tiny cosmetic rather than structural hairline on the base (subtle, but seen both on interior and exterior). Beautiful for display, but not for use. I will pack VERY carefully, but it’s possible it could break in shipping (along the clean lines shown on the left hand of the photo). I include this bowl for very little based on the risk assumed by the buyer. .
These Blue and White ceramic pudding basins feature the Chinese-inspired landscape scenes of the Blue Willow Pattern, which was produced in England in the late 18th C.
Pudding molds or pudding basins were used for steaming pudding for even cooking—often used for Christmas puddings of fruit, spices, brandy, and rum.
