Shake N Twist Salt Shaker Pepper Grinder by William Bounds LTD Vintage 60s MCM

Authentic, preowned, vintage Shake N Twist combination salt shaker and pepper grinder, one of the first made by home goods innovator William Bounds Ltd in the early 60s. According to the company (which still produces salt and pepper grinders and shakers), this design was first created in 1963! Made from a gold resin exterior with a patented three step grinder mechanism, this mid century modern salt shaker and pepper grinder still works like a charm! Preowned/vintage with some signs of use and prior wear: some scratches, digs and marks to the outside as you would expect from a 50+ year old piece. Measures approximately 8in H x 2.8in at the widest. About the designer: William Bounds was a man of many talents. During World War II, he worked as an aerial photographer for the U.S. Navy aboard the U.S.S. Hornet. After the war, he began his career in photographic instrumentation, where he developed the first cartridge-load, auto-focus, electronic flash camera, revolutionizing the way photos were taken. He later became Vice President of one of the world's leading aerospace firms.
