Operating out of Taunton, Massachusetts, the Poole Silver Company was established by George Poole and Edward Roche. Initially, the firm did business under the name of Poole, Roche & Co. This manufacturer of sterling silver, electroplated nickel silver, and silver plate was incorporated on May 21 of 1895. In 1900, Poole’s workshop consisted of a two-room miniature factory located at 106 Whittenton Street. Some years after that, the business expanded and subsequently relocated to nearby 320 Whittenton Street. Poole added sterling silver to its repertoire in 1946, from which material it manufactured cutlery, flatware, and hollowware. American silver manufacturer Towle Silversmiths acquired Poole Silver Co. in 1971
