Silver Wrapped Spiny Oyster Earrings

Silver wrapped spiny oyster earrings. Spiny oyster pieces are cut from orange, red, and pink oyster shells.These beauties are more of an orange in color. Some refer to it as a gemstone, but it comes from the bivalve mollusk shell, usually found in the warm waters of the Gulf of Mexico. Although there is no jeweler's mark, I believe the wrapping is sterling silver. It is in need of a cleaning for it to shine like new. I hesitate to undertake that chore for fear of damaging the shell. But a competent jeweler's could do it in a heartbeat. In truth, I would keep them as they are because I love the patina. They are very pretty.
