Gobelin Fine China by Spode Gobelin was introduced in the 1920s and is reminiscent of antique tapestry designs. The pattern name was probably inspired by Gobelins, a famous French tapestry factory near Paris begun in 1662. During the 1600s and 1700s the factory produced some of the finest tapestries woven anywhere in Europe. There were several versions of this pattern produced in different colors. Spode Gobelin has been discontinued. The gold trim on this pattern means it is not safe for use in the microwave.
