Genuine Hand Engravings from Bartletts Scenes of Early Canada 1842 by Ridgway
Dessert Bowls Staffordshire Green Transferware England
Manufactured during the 1960's, this pattern features hand-applied colors over a dark green transfer. The Heritage pattern itself was adapted from a series of sketches and watercolors by William Bartlett, English artist. From June through November of 1838, Bartlett traveled through eastern Canada creating his artwork. This art was later engraved onto steel plates for mass printing. Images from Bartletts journey were published as "Canadian Scenery Illustrated", an 1842 collection featuring over one hundred of Bartlett's steel engravings.
