Star Brooch Mid-Century Costume Jewelry

Looks like opals and sapphires on gold brooch. I have no idea if these stones are real, the only thing I know is this is definitely from the mid-century time frame. There are no marks or stamps that I can find anywhere. Brooch is about 1” by 1”.
