Stekkjastaur (Sheep-Cote-Clod)
Icelandic Christmas Folklore
(Sheep-Cote-Clod) is the first Yule Lad who comes to town on the night before the 12thof December and also the first to depart for home on the 25thof December. Sheep-Cote-Clod was said to harass sheep, suck milk from them and was known for having two stiff peg-legs. Unlike most other countries that only have one Santa Claus, Iceland has thirteen. They are called Jlasveinar (Yule Lads) and take turns visiting our children the 13 nights leading up to Christmas Eve.
Stories told by parents to get their children to behave during Christmas time. Such an old relic made purely of .925S. What the GB stands for, i don't know. It could of been gold plated at one time but the tarnish I cleaned tells me otherwise.
The Fork weighs approximately 25.27 grams The Spoon weighs approximately 28.26 grams Together they weighed 53.53 grams.
I wish I had the other 12 mischevious Yule lads, what a set that would be!
Please see photos for any imperfections. The fork is bent a bit and the spoon has some deepest dents.
These are very old. I'm guessing the early 1900's.
