Edwardian posies gathered from the garden have long since disappeared, but this sterling posy lives on! Two sweet blossoms on long graceful stems have kept their Spring blush for a century and more. E.A. Bennet & Company were among the vibrant community of boutique jewelers and silversmiths who flourished in Providence Rhode Island from the turn of the century through the 1920s.
For the historians among us: The first time B. B. trademark was documented for E. A. Bennet was 1912. The latest record I could find of Mr. Bennet's company was 1922; A record of the company being for sale to settle the estate of Mr. Bennet. So this lovely little bouquet of flowers is verified as a true era Edwardian artisan piece.
The sterling posy design measures approximately 70 mm from stem to top petal and 35 mm across as the widest point. That translates to 2.75 inches long and just under 1.5 inches wide. The original C-clasp is intact. The back is stamped with the original patent number. The hallmark includes Sterling and B.B. as shown. Overall, this piece weighs 9 grams. Our jewelry is polished by hand; No corrosive solvents or dips are used.
