Sterling Silver Warrior Head Cufflinks Black Lacquered Wood? Mid 1900s Vintage

Unique vintage cufflinks with a warrior or soldier head on a black background. The background looks like it is a lacquered wood, but I am not positive. The bullet type toggles are marked sterling. There are a few imperfections on the background pieces (see closeups). Good preloved condition with signs of previous ownership, but no problems with the functionality.
