@poll3poi3h just got home (family delay).
No, this bag does not have a longer strap. The shoulder straps are comfortable and long enough to sling over the shoulder using the arm it will hang from (not sure if that makes sense.) Some bags have straps so short that a person needs to use the other hand to place the bag on the shoulder. This one can all be done with the same arm so no need to put things down first.
