If you are a Philadelphian, then you are no stranger to Strawbridge & Clothier, the last family-owned major department store in the Greater Philly area. Founded in 1868, the flagship store was located at 8th and Market Streets in Center City, Philadelphia. In its day, a gracious urban emporium. In keeping with Quaker tradition, the founders stressed service to customers, community and employees.
What do you remember about Strawbridge's? Hunting for bargains on Clover Days and the yellow boxes of course!
Condition:
• Vintage, from the 1980's-1990's. Fair/Good condition, wear commensurate with age. There are visible dents, dings and marks. The box is sturdy, the edges are stable. Corners/Edges are worn. Use it to store postcards, letters, trinkets, corsages.

• 'Strawbridge & Clothier' printed on top of box
• 'Seal of Confidence' logo printed on top of box. Seal depicts William Penn and a Lenape Indian and their 'never written, never broken' treaty, which enabled Penn to establish the colony of Pennsylvania and the City of Philadelphia on the land that belonged to the tribe. The seal stood for their Quaker-based tradition of fairness & honesty.
