awesomeewe @kiramuller thank you, it is as I thought it looked. someone altered this dress to a smaller size as Sundance made it to be 40" long and 20" wide for a med.

kiramuller @awesomeewe hmmm 🤔 You’re saying that this isn’t actually a medium? That’s wild as I bought this directly at the Sundance store. I usually wear a large and this fit me fine.

awesomeewe Sadly, that is what I am saying. I began to wonder when I look at how much less inches were between the sleeves and hem and then I looked at the hem and seen it was finished as a hem and not as the dress was originally. I've seen people do strange things to clothes and then return them. Having it altered and then returning is not out of the realm of possibility. That's why I always check measurements. I'll bet it looks cute though as a shorter sheath.
