Terrific copy-- clean, bright pages, tight binding, rich texture! Splendid!
SIGNED COPY!
SWEET LIFE was dedicated by Ed Van Der Elsken to his publisher, Andreas Landshoff. This copy is inscribed/ signed from Andreas Landshoff to fellow publisher and friend Peter Mayer.
BOOK DESCRIPTION: New York: Harry N. Abrams, 1966. Hardcover in pictorial dust jacket. First Edition, First Printing (US Edition). Over 180 pages with 179 black and white photographic images by Ed van der Elsken showcasing a gritty and powerful collection of photographs taken over the course of a 14-month trip around the world. Cited in Parr & Badger, Vol. 1, pp. 254-255.
I'd say overall a solid, enormously crisp and clean copy of this Van de Elsken classic. The book's dust jacket shows some minor wear, with some fading at the top and bottom edges of the spine and a small tear at top-- see photos and ask questions please!
Peter Mayer was the editor and chief at THE VIKING PRESS for many years in the 70's and 80's, as well as the publisher for his own press OVERLOOK in Woodstock later on in the 90's and early 2000's. OVERLOOK Press produced many fine reprints and original books..
Inside the book in in terrific shape, all pages are clean and bright binding is tight and to my eyes it looks perfect!
