seatia @applebonnie natural cowhide vachetta leather is untreated leather. I would be very cautious what you use to treat this leather or quicken patina. This leather needs to naturally patina with wear. To treat my vachetta leather and canvas I only use Apple Care Conditioner (Amazon $8) once a month to prevent cracking and to allow the natural patina process. 😁

seatia @applebonnie I was also going to recommend sunlight as a way for the leather to patina naturally. It also ensures an even patina! Too, the more you touch the handles the more you transfer dirt, oils, sweat,,etc... they will continue to patina, but they will also become very dark, so I NEVER touch my handles with my bare hands. Some ladies wrap each handle with a small scarf or buy an extra shoulder strap... I use a strap. But I always recommend a natural patina! 😊
