jodisjewelry @suarezj1 yes, they have a greenish hue to them. It’s hard to see, the last few pics are the actual earrings

072365 Real, well.... cultured?
Oct 10Reply
jodisjewelry
jodisjewelry @suarezj1 cultured Shell pearls. They use a piece of shell instead of a bead to start the pearl formation. They’re still organic and made the same

jodisjewelry @suarezj1 I’ll have to check in the morning to see if I still have ones with the thicker wire. It’s midnight here so I can’t get up to check without awakening hubby, who has to be up in 4 hrs. I’ll let you know early tho.

jodisjewelry @suarezj1 sorry for the delayed response. I’m on the way to Dallas for Posh Fest this weekend. I have the thicker wires but they’re leverbacks and not French hooks. I thought I had the ones in the first pic reordered, but I’m going to have to do that when I get home Sunday/Monday. I’m taking the pearls with me so if you want these I can still ship while I’m away.

babycakes808 Do you have any natural salt water Tahitian pearls?
Oct 12Reply
jodisjewelry
jodisjewelry @babycakes808 All commercial pearls are actually cultured and have been since the early 1900s. The last pair of “natural” pearls sold were at Christie’s New York for I think 7 million for earrings. Cultured pearls have a bead surgically implanted into the oyster to grow the pearl.

jodisjewelry @babycakes808 Shell pearls such as these are only different in that a piece of shell is surgically implanted instead of a bead. They’re still organic material from an oyster. They’re grown in farms in the black lipped oysters which is what gives them their color.

babycakes808 I’ve purchased several during my travels to Tahiti but that was in the late 90’s. I was fortunate to have friends that knew families who owned farms for generations so I purchased non-cultured vintage pearls that were obviously expensive. I’ve gifted most of them to relatives and close friends but still have 2 pairs. Not going to Tahiti any time soon so was curious to see what’s available to purchase. Think it might be better to go back to ensure I’m buying authentic.

jodisjewelry @babycakes808 I’d never thought about getting a certificate of authenticity, but I surly could from my vendor. I’ll let you know what I find. I’m in Dallas at Posh Fest now but I’ll be home Monday

jodisjewelry @suarezj1 Hi, I have these back in, the Pearls are smaller than the ones with the thinner wire but I removed those pics to avoid confusion.

beehue
beehue Hello! What kind of metal is used for these beauties?
Apr 28Reply
jodisjewelry
jodisjewelry @beehue I think they’re rhodium plated over sterling, but let me go check. I used to make jewelry, so I can change the metal if I need to.
Apr 28Reply
jodisjewelry
jodisjewelry @beehue ok I updated the listing. It is not stamped, but I know they’re rhodium plated. I have the same hooks in .925 Sterling, but they’re just a tad bit larger than the rhodium ones. I added pictures to show the slight difference. I’d be glad to change them for you.

lolas_boutique_ @jodisjewelry love reading the history of the pearls. I didn’t really know how it happened ha ha. So how do natural pearls happen? Like natural ones in the ocean that just grow on their own? What is a bead? Like what kind of bead? I might get you to help me with my pearls whe they come in to help me describe them.

jodisjewelry @lolas_boutique_ I don’t mind helping you at all. I also have pearls in my wholesale closet, just FYI. I can wholesale anything in my closet in bundles of 3, when you need more inventory. That closet is @jodis_jewelry. It requires at least 3 items be sold at once in wholesale portal.
