Taxco D. Monteros Turquoise Pendant 950 Silver & Milor Italy 18" Sterling Chain

1) Vintage turquoise inlay pendant in a quadrangular shape by D. Monteros in Taxco, Mexico. Length is 1-1/2" x 1.2" at its widest. Weighs about 17 g. Stamped "D Montero's / Taxco / 950," the pendant possibly was made before the inauguration of the standardized city letter / craftsman number marks in 1979. A small but quality piece in 950 silver, it resembles other pendants I've seen with different gems. I'm guessing this line was produced to satisfy the growing tourist demand for affordable Taxco jewelry. Bail interior measures 8mm x 6mm on inside. Pretty chunk of blue sky for the coming springtime. 2) I added an 18 inch, 3mm sterling silver chain in a fluted herringbone pattern. It is shiny but with some texture that complements the shiny pendant and stone. Stamped "Italy 925," "925" and the Milor trademark in an oval, it weighs 5 grams. The chain is a newer vintage than the pendant, lightweight and delicate so as to not overwhelm it. I think the pendant's shape and size call for a shorter chain like this, though obviously it can be swapped out.
