It's hard to answer. We live in high desert and our winters can get really cold and snowy, but the air is dry. My daughter wore it for tree lighting ceremony last year and with a nice wool sweater underneat she was plenty warm. But I wouldn't exactly rate it as very warm jacket, it is acrylic.
