Here is a lovely mulberry transferware plate from England that commemorates the Alamo in San Antonio, Texas. It has a gorgeous wide floral border with a rope edge. The central picture is of the front of the Alamo and the tropical park lands before it with palm trees. The bottom caption of this picture reads, "The Alamo Founded 1718 Sant Antonio, Texas". The back is signed by the maker, "Old English Staffordshire Ware Jonroth England Made in Staffordshire England by the Royal Staffordshire Pottery Established in 1750 Imported Exclusively for The Alamo Chapel San Antonio, Texas". And the information about the Alamo printed on the back reads in a banner, "The Alamo Cradle of Texas Liberty" and "The sacred Alamo, standing within the very heart of he business district of the city of San Antonio, was founded in 1718 by the Franciscan Monks and was originally the mission of San Antonio de Valera. Within the gray stone walls of this quaint old Chapel, Travis, Crockett, Bonham and Bowie and one hundred-eighty unsung heroes gave their lives March 6, 1836 in defense of Texas liberty."
