The Best Little Girl in the World is a 1981 television film directed by Sam O'Steen and executive produced by Aaron Spelling. The film is based upon the 1979 novel of the same name written by Steven Levenkron. A young girl develops an eating disorder, alternately starving herself or throwing up food. Her parents, angry and desperate, send her to a hospital. Unfortunately, she befriends a patient who convinces her to hide her illness. Teenage Casey Powell secretly suffers from anorexia nervosa, a mental and physical illness of deliberately starving herself or making herself vomit, because of her troubled home life and problems at school.
