The Christ of the American Road by E. Stanley Jones explores the unique interpretation of Christianity emerging from American democracy. The book proposes the spiritual reconsecration of the United States, addressing the nation's structural flaws through a battle against apathy and selfishness.
Jones was called "the world's greatest missionary evangelist" by Time magazine in 1938. He spent 70 years traveling and presenting Jesus Christ without the trappings of Western culture. He emphasized the necessity of surrender to Jesus Christ and the message "Jesus is Lord," impacting millions through his sermons, lectures, and books.
This book was printed in 1944.
There is a note on the copyright page that this is a Wartime Book made of lighter weight paper but is the complete text. It's an interesting footnote to the wartime rationing efforts during World War 2.
The top of the spine has a piece missing.
There is marker writing on the front free end paper.
There are some light waterstains on the colored edges of the paper but the discoloration does not extend into the pages nor has it caused any warping.
Otherwise, the book is in nice condition with solid binding and clean pages.
The book measures about 6 x 4 1/2 inches.
