This is a vintage hard bound cookbook with dust jacket "The Fireside Cook Book" by James Beard, illustrated by Alice & Martin Provensen. Bits of advice from Mr. Beard sprinkle this book, tucked in among the fabulous recipes. My favorite "do not overcook or they will become as uninteresting as old hay" is a super helpful way of saying "don't overcook the lamb patties. The illustrations are so amazing, classic mid century drawings. Some of our family recipes originated from this book, our favorite Cassoulet, most asked for Continental Apple Cake, super easy Cutlet Paprika (we use chicken), 2 of our favorite barbecues sauces, plus many, many more.
