The Lady and the Unicorn: À mon seul désir Wool Blend Tapestry, Made in France Named "A mon seul désir", the major piece of the "Dame à la Licorne" tapestry in the Cluny museum depicts a young woman of high society with her hand-maid-den surrounded by a unicorn and a lion on a red background with Trees of Fruit, many flowers and assorted animals in a peaceful menagerie. THE LADY AND THE UNICORN Touch, taste, smell, hearing and sight... These six tapestries, woven in around 1500, represent the five senses against a detailed red background. The remaining sixth sense, explained only by the inscription “À mon seul désir” (To my only desire), has inspired countless theories of it’s meaning. Woven in wool/silk/cotton blend, lined with a plain sage cotton fabric and has an integral sleeve for hanging and also metal rings sewn in for ease of hanging. This tapestry is Made in France and of the highest quality of reproduction. “Our tapestries are made by a century-old company in Europe.
