The 1973 movie Lucky Luciano, based upon the same person as the book, was released at roughly the same time as the book, 10 years after the gangster's death. This was the condition Mr. Luciano imposed on the authors for his detailing of life events.
Charles "Lucky" Luciano (1897–1962) was an Italian-born gangster who operated mainly in the United States. Luciano is considered the father of modern organized crime in the United States. He was the first official boss of the modern Genovese crime family.
