The Opal FIRST EDITION Riker 1844 Morning on the Wissahiccon Edgar Allan Poe

Riker, 1844. Awesome collectible piece! This rare first edition contains the first printing of Poe's essay "Morning on the Wissahiccon" (pp. 249-256), which was later renamed "The Elk" when republished after Poe's death. In great condition for its age! Contains a handwritten note dating to Christmas 1843 right before official publishing on the back inside cover. Still contains protective sheets over some of the illustrations! **NOTABLE FLAWS**: There is some wear as expected from age. The binding is a little loose as shown in the pictures so some of the pages are looser than others. There's some pages at the beginning that have some dirt/spots, but nothing major. The back inside cover has some writing around the handwritten note.
