The Prisoner of Zenda (1894), by Anthony Hope, is an adventure novel in which the King of Ruritania, an imaginary country not a thousand miles from Bavaria, is drugged on the eve of his coronation & thus is unable to attend the ceremony. Political forces w/in the realm are such that, in order for the king to retain the crown, his coronation must proceed. This book was issued to members of the Heritage Club in 1966 & it's in excellent vintage condition, since the book is more than half a century old; you can tell it was valued dearly by my great-uncle, who was the previous owner. The pages are clean & unmarked with no writing, rips or loose pages. The binding is square & tight & there are no signs of prior ownership such as an inscription or a bookplate. Slipcase has very minor wear in the top right corner. The spine also shows minor color fading caused by its exposure on a shelf. A beautiful book from a smoke & pet free home.
