The White House Cookbook, A Comprehensive Encyclopedia of Information for the Home, was written by Hugo Zieman and Mrs. F. L. Gillett (a steward of the White House). It was published by The Saalfield Publishing Company, 1915.
Copyrights were 1887 and 1914 by F. L. Gillett, 1894 and 1899 by the Werner Company.
Please note Condition: Fair-, Hardcover book without dust jacket in well used and fragile condition. Book has extensive shelf and edge wear, covers show fading and stains, soiling. Corners and spine bumped and worn. Pages are fragile, chipped and have extensive age discoloration. Many pages are loose and alot are reinforced with tape.
Cracked binding inside front cover and back has been reinforced with tape. Some pages may have small rips and have been folded, some may have notations. Some pages may be missing. It has been repaired with all types of tape many times over the years by previous owners.
Early editions of this book are getting harder to find largely due to the fact that during publication they were printed on very low quality paper. Over time, this made the pages brittle and susceptible to damage. It was also one of the "Most used" books in a household.
This particular book is still an antique collectible, over 100 years old, at a more economical price because of the age damage.
Perfect for display, kitchen décor. Please see photos.
A must have- and one of the top 10 all time cookbooks to add to a collection.
