Skarloey, Duncan, Smudger, Rusty, Proteus (has a magic lamp on top of his head - it still WORKS after all these years!) Fearless Freddie and Mighty Mac are all Narrow Gauge Engines on the Island of Sodor. Skarloey - Skarloey is a very chipper, hard worker. He is a proper engine who is dedicated to his narrow gauge line Duncan - Duncan is a Scottish narrow gauge engine with rough manners and a strong temper, making him the least social of the Skarloey Railway fleet. Smudger - Smudger was an olive narrow gauge tank engine who used to work on the Mid Sodor Railway and was later turned into a generator due to his tendency to misbehave Rusty - Rusty is a very self-assured and dedicated worker with a huge heart. Rusty loves adventure and the other engines, which makes their lives much easier. Proteus - Although he never spoke in the series, he has a speaking role in the Thomas & Friends Storytime series, - He was in a flashback story that Skarloey was telling Fearless Freddie - Thomas brings an old friend to the Skarloey Railway; a grey tank engine called Freddie, though everyone knows him better as "Fearless Freddie. Mighty Mac - Mighty and Mac, collectively known as Mighty Mac, are a blue double-ended engine and conjoined twins. Despite the opposing personalities of the two ends, they are technically one engine.
