Tibetan Prayer Flags

Handcrafted in Nepal. The 5 colors correspond with the 5 elements of Buddhism: blue for sky, white for air, red for fire, green for water, and yellow for earth. According to traditional Tibetan medicine, health and harmony are produced through the balance of the 5 elements. These flags are made of thin cotton fabric and are fragile. They will not hold up to strong winds and should be somewhat protected if hung outside. They are intended to fray, fade, and disintegrate upon exposure to natural elements. This is what prayer flags are supposed to do. The belief is that prayers are carried on the winds and made a permanent part of this world when the mantras fade from the flags. Each flag is approximately 6.5” X 6.5” and each pack includes 10 flags (2 flags of each color) sewn together so they can be hung like a banner.
