lifeinstiches Very cute closet ❤️ 2. Questions how do you manage to take such great pics with them on hangers & I have a hard time with a mannequin. & how did you make this to be connected? & the items on it with no background.

samnl94 @hotpantsrhoads Hi! Thank you! 😊 To answer your first question, I use a Nikon DSLR camera. A DSLR camera is a more expensive camera that is typically used for photography & things like that. These types of photos can be achieved through a phone camera as well. My best advice is to pay attention to lighting. I try to take my photos in the mid morning when the sunlight comes into the house, and brightens up the wall I hang the items on. I hope that helped! I'm not quite sure what your second question was, sorry about that!
Mar 18Reply
lifeinstiches
lifeinstiches Thanks for helping with that some great advice if I had a better window😢 second question is you wrote a note which is something I need to do & they run together with no gap? How did you achieve that? By just using same background?
Mar 18Reply
samnl94
samnl94 @hotpantsrhoads I'm still not quite sure what you mean. Which note? Sorry, I'm just a bit confused 😣

samnl94
samnl94 @hotpantsrhoads Oh! Sorry! This is just 4 separate photos that I used in a listing. If you use a white background, the photos will look like they blend into one another, since Posh has a standard white background as is. Using a while background will make the gap between photos look almost invisible 😊 I hope that answered what you were asking! Feel free to ask if you have any more questions!

apace
apace How do you find your photos on line models etc. I've spent hours searching for my items online to include one professional one but can never find them ??
May 27Reply
samnl94
samnl94 @apace Sometimes it really takes some digging. The app "Polyvore" often has photos for popular brands or stores. I often will search multiple key words at a time on Google as well. I also will look for items that are very close in similarity on Google & use those photos (as long as it's close enough to show what the item would look like). Sometimes it's hard 😣 That's why some of my listings are just the photos I took of the item hanging on my wall

May 28Reply
samnl94
samnl94 @nicolisa Welcome to Poshmark! I do use 2 DSLR cameras (Nikon D50 & Nikon D7100). I shoot in RAW+JPEG format. Then I upload them onto my computer. From there, I either put them straight to my phone, or I upload them to my google drive and then download them using the Google drive app

sassymcbrassy
sassymcbrassy @sam_leslie94 hi Sam! Thanks for the tips! I have a couple more questions... How do you get so many followers? Also, how often do you suggest listing your item to a party? Just once, or multiple times? I'm trying to declutter my life and I have soooo many items I am trying to sell 😪. I haven't even listed them all yet
Jun 10Reply
samnl94
samnl94 @sassymcbrassy Hi! As far as followers goes, I am a suggested user on Poshmark. Being a suggested user just means that in a way, Posh recommends me to other users. I had 20k followers before I became a suggested user because I was very active in the app and shared A LOT! When it comes to sharing items to a party, you can share an item as many times as you'd like 😊
Jun 10Reply
samnl94
samnl94 @sassymcbrassy In addition to all of that, make sure you share your items a few times a day. That's the most important thing (aside from taking clear photos and thorough descriptions). Sharing other people's items here and there helps as well. Often they'll share your items to their followers as well and then sometimes they'll follow you. Make sure you follow all posh rules and then maybe you can become a suggested user too! 😊

Jul 02Reply
samnl94
samnl94 @jro922 That's a great question! So when you drop an item's price, it changes in the listing itself for everyone to see and it refreshes in the feed for your followers. As far as discounted shipping, it gets a bit confusing. Posh does the occasional closet clear out. When that time comes, they offer different shipping discounts when you drop prices by 10% or more. They'll tell you the discount in your notifications tab at the top.
Jul 16Reply
samnl94
samnl94 @jro922 Now I have noticed that they offer shipping discounts normally as long as the item is $10 or more after you drop by 10%. It seems that for high priced items they'll offer $0.99 shipping, & for cheaper items, they'll offer $2.99 or $3.99 shipping. I have been curious myself what their exact criteria is, so I will contact them and ask & let you know what they say!
Jul 16Reply
samnl94
samnl94 @jro922 No problem! I'm glad I (sort of) helped! I did contact posh to find out what their criteria is so I can clear that up for all of us who are wondering. As soon as they contact me back, I will let you know what they say. It's something I have wondered about as well, so I'm happy to see what they'll say. In the mean time, let me know if you have any other questions & Happy Poshing! 😊
Jul 16Reply
samnl94
samnl94 @jro922 Hi! So I got a response from the Posh team. Shipping discounts are offered at random when "Closet Clear Out" isn't going on. They said that they use an algorithm to determine when to offer discounted shipping & when not to.
Jul 16Reply
samnl94
samnl94 @jro922 As far as that goes, we still have to drop the item by at least 10% below the lowest historical price for that item, to be eligible for discounted shipping (if we get lucky enough to receive the discount). Either way, the item gets marked as though it's on sale & the people who have liked it get notified.

Jan 30Reply
samnl94
samnl94 @kmu11 Hi! I'm glad this is helpful for you! As far as getting sold items to the bottom, there's no other way other than re-sharing everything else 😣 It's a huge pain in the butt, but Posh hasn't come up with another way yet. I wish there was a way to edit your closet and drag things in the order you'd like! *Helpful tip: Share each item multiple times as you're doing it. It'll help each item reach more of your followers!
Jan 30Reply
kmu11
kmu11 Thanks for the response! Yeah, I've tried just clicking and dragging, but didn't do anything 😂 Hope they come up with a way to do that! But really re-sharing and getting more views isn't so bad either 😄 Thanks again!

kdecker88
kdecker88 Hi! I was wondering what app you use to create these types of listings (the ones with text vs a photo w/product being sold). Thank you!
Oct 05Reply
samnl94
samnl94 @kdecker88 Hi! I'm so sorry I'm just getting back to you. I'm not sure if I understand the question, but I think you're asking how to create a listing that isn't for sale, right? As for that, you create a listing the normal way, and then set the price to zero at the end. Setting the price to zero will automatically mark the listing as "Not For Sale". This allows you to use photos in a listing that you've created on your phone or computer like I did here ☺️

samnl94
samnl94 @carlys_clothes Hi! Welcome to Posh! That's a good question. When someone accepts your counter offer, or if you accept an offer from them, they automatically purchase the item. It then is marked as "sold" so nobody else can purchase it. At that point, you'll get a shipping label in your email that you will need to print out. All that's left, is to package up the item, attach the label, and send it out!
Dec 06Reply
samnl94
samnl94 @carlys_clothes The seller and buyer both get an email confirming the item was shipped, that way you can track the progress of the item's delivery!

samnl94 @carlys_clothes no problem, let me know if you have any more questions! ☺️
Dec 06Reply
samnl94
samnl94 @carlys_clothes If they accept it, you'll get a notification with a little picture of a green dollar bill. That's how you know if someone purchased your item or not. I hope that helped!

tawniacollins
tawniacollins @sam_leslie94 I am new to here and I read your comments about the images. I just spent a ton of time using a Cannon T6I to take photos on a white back drop that came out great. I put them in drive, got the app, started uploading them but all my images are needing cropped within the posh app. How do you get around this?
Apr 24Reply
tawniacollins
tawniacollins Is there a specific app size I should use and re-size them in photo shop then save them to drive. I so wish this whole platform was not app based. Thank you in advance for your help. Sorry I had to make this into 2 based in character requirements
Apr 24Reply
samnl94
samnl94 @tawniacollins Hi! Welcome to Posh! That's a great question. When I use my Nikon D7100, there's a few options. Once they're in Drive, you can save individual photos & download one of several apps to change the image size. Or you can take photos standing further back, that way you have enough room on each side for the square crop (if that makes sense).
Apr 24Reply
samnl94
samnl94 @tawniacollins You can type in "square photo" on the App Store or you can type in "square photo crop app" on google and find one with good reviews. Typically when they're full sized images, you'll end up with a white or black border around the photo so that it is square.

samnl94 @carolinaluv Hi! They all are photos I borrowed, & I used editing software to add the text & other things to the images. There isn't a way to do it through Posh, sorry about that! Pinterest has great photo options if you need some! There are also apps that you can download, to add text & stickers to images. larsoninak Great tips! I appreciate your input and knowledge. I didn't even know Poshmark existed until I signed up back in July. I was diagnosed pre-diabetic last October so I cut out carbs and sugars and dropped from 145 (I'm 5'3") to 115 in 3 months... No longer pre-diabetic!

I absolutely LOVE IT!! 💖💞😀 If you wouldn't mind, can you take a look at my closet and proffer any suggestions to help my sales?
Sep 15Reply
larsoninak
larsoninak I'm open to any ideas or changes and would greatly appreciate any assistance. Pricing seems reasonable? Photos and descriptions okay? I know there are things I can improve on with photos but am limited in time and resources, and I've got at least another 150 items still to take pics of and post. It's definitely time-consuming and do it during lunch breaks! Haha! Thank you kindly, my friend.

samnl94
samnl94 @beth90808 Hi! Sorry for the delayed response. I hosted a party that day and was getting hundreds of notifications. Quite often, people accidentally bundle one item instead of hitting the "share" button for that item. It's a common mistake that I often make as well. They're so close together that I often hit "bundle" and I don't mean to. If you'd like, you can make an offer for that item & maybe it'll sell ☺️
Sep 15Reply

samnl94 @larsoninak Wow! That's SO amazing! Good for you!! 🎉 As for your photos, they look pretty great! Some of my first listings were taken on my messy dresser in dim lighting (they looked pretty bad). Your prices are AMAZING! I'd say you're doing pretty good with your listings! Just make sure you share your listings often, share them to Posh parties, & you'll be good to go! ☺️ If I missed anything, feel free to ask more questions!

mercytobel @sam_leslie94 Just read this entire thread and am really looking for anything to help boost sales! I joined in 2012, added like 4 things, made 1 sale, and forgot about it until recently. I’ve now added a ton of new items with (hopefully) pretty good photos and detailed descriptions, but... crickets. Am I doing something wrong? Are my items not priced well? Any insight or help you could provide would be SO appreciated. Thanks!
Aug 01Reply
samnl94
samnl94 @mercytobel Hi there! Your photos are amazing, your items are priced well, and you have great descriptions! I share them once or twice a day, as long as I’m not on vacation. I also try to share them to the Posh Parties since that’s when most people seem to be on Posh. Try sharing other people’s items in hopes that they’ll take a look at your closet. Hopefully they will want to share your items in return, and maybe they’ll like what they see and want to shop instead! ☺️

I have a friend who recently quit her 9-5 to full time Posh and I’m so jelly! 😂 She’s super successful and inspiring so I’m trying not to compare/ feel discouraged. Doing my best to share tons of listings and actually feel like part of the community instead of an outsider. I’ll definitely take your advice and start sharing more to parties! Thank you for the advice and for the shares! Hope to make a sale soon! 💕

samnl94 @mercytobel I wish I could make it a full time thing as well, but I just can’t at this point and time. I do love Posh though, and I love being a part of the community either way. Aug 15Reply
samnl94
samnl94 @missmagee Hi! I am not sure honestly, but I only follow closets I personally would shop from. It’s nothing against anyone personally. I used to follow every person back, but then my feed was flooded by items that weren’t my size, or just weren’t my taste. I’ve been on Posh for 7 years, so those followers on my account have just come in over that long period of time. I share A LOT, and am involved on Posh multiple times a day. I love the Posh community ❤️

missmagee @samnl94 lol EXACTLY. That's what I started doing when I 1st joined a yr ago. Then I read everywhere "to get followers, I have to follow"...I have gotten a lot of followers but yes a ton of news feed. I am confused when I want to shop, by which closets I liked. Not all closets have bookmark listings & when I like items & then change my mind & delete, I also delete that it was because I liked that closet. 😜 TY so much
